Thermal Management

Thermal Management for Alternative Powertrain Vehicles

With global economies and societies moving towards low carbon futures, alternative powertrain vehicles are an exciting area of focus for the commercial vehicle industry.

With recent technological advances in automotive and commercial vehicle sectors; battery electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles are now a key part of the future for transport.

Thermal management is becoming ever more important with the trend towards powertrain electrification. Compared to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains, thermal management systems on alternative powertrain vehicles have different requirements including range extension, charging time reduction, overall system weight, size and ultimately cost reduction.

Motorised valves from our Buschjost range have been in use for over 25 years in industry by leading OEMs for coolant fluid control and more recently in battery charging and cooling circuits on-board electric and fuel cell electric vehicles.
