Dust filter systems are an important part of many manufacturing environments where particulate contaminants are a by-product of the manufacturing processes. They collect the unwanted dust that is potentially harmful to workers, equipment or the environment. Dust filters lose effectiveness as they collect more dust and Dust filter valves (sometimes referred to as Pulse valves) are needed to clean these filters and keep them working as intended.
Where are Dust Filter Valves used?
- Feed and grain milling plants
- Chemical and material production
- Woodworking industry
- Textile manufacturing
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Primary industries
What are the benefits of using an IMI Buschjost Dust Filter Valve?
- Reduced operational costs due to 25% quicker operation than conventional dust filter valves
- Lower total cost of ownership – TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer) diaphragm offers long life (up to 3m cycles)
- High flow rate of air ensuring better cleaning performance
- High corrosion resistance (optional)
- Solenoid exchangeable without tools (Twist-on®)
- Explosion proof up to hazardous area zones 1/21 and temperature class T4/T5
- Usable for low pressure and vacuum applications
- Integrated silencer allowing quieter operation
- Frost proof solenoid system suited from -40 °C ... +140 °C
- CE marking allowing for use in explosion proof areas (with appropriate solenoid)
- International registrations such as Gost-R and CRN available
How do Dust Filter Valves work?
Our IMI Buschjost range of Dust filter valves enable the air-blasting method of dust filter cleaning. A short, intense pulse of air is blasted into the soiled filter element causing dust and loose dirt from the filter element to fall toward the ground where it can be collected for safe removal. Following the short cleaning cycle, the system can operate at full capacity again.
To achieve optimum cleaning with minimum air consumption, the pressure in the filter must reach the its set point very quickly. This means that the valves must open fully within a few milliseconds and the air pulse must return to zero as quickly as possible. The IMI Buschjost Dust filter valve achieves this by using a unique one-piece diaphragm rather than a traditional spring, and functions reliably at the very high speeds necessary to operate.
Proven in the field
Our Dust filter valves have been proven in highly aggressive environments. A great example of this is the integration of our valves into top hammer drill rigs. These rigs can only operate reliably if the large quantities of dust generated during drilling are removed from the drill’s path as this prevents jamming. The dust contains contaminants which could pose a significant health and safety hazard and must carefully be collected for safe disposal.
This challenge was overcome by integrating compressors and patented jet pulse dust collectors directly on to the drill rigs. The dust-laden air flows into filter bags where it collects or cakes on the outside. The caked dust is then shaken into the collector by timed blasts of compressed air from a dust filter valve, ready for safe disposal.
